Post Vietnam

I have recovered from the month in Vietnam walking away with a somewhat clearer understanding of the people and country's development. I know for sure that within 5-10 years, the entire coastline will be taken up by big resorts and villa compounds. It's to be expected of many developing countries but I just hope that 'the powers that be' can create well-paying jobs for the locals and be environmentally responsible for the areas they are taking over. One can only hope with such things.

I have mixed feelings about the trip and am still pondering over what I had seen and heard. I really appreciated that I could speak Vietnamese which allowed me to chat with the random people we met. There were lots of fun characters and ambitous youth who are hungry for a better future. The tourism industry is bursting but similar to China, innovative, practical and managerial skills are a shortage in the labour force. Therefore, it will still take some time before Vietnam can improve its efficiency and productivity.

Here are some more photos of the trip for you to check out. Enjoy! :o)
