Other than the sad story of Berlin's new international airport being on an indefinite delay, I recently discovered an exciting new city development that may open before the airport does!
There's a green urban initiative that has been given the go-ahead and a national award from the German Ministry for its ecodesign. The project is a 9 km bicycle way that will follow the U1 train line and will connect the city's east and west. It's called the Radbahn and the design aspects will reflect what the creators of the Highline in New York have done; eg. lots of greenery. What's also fantastic is the emphasis on making cycling in urban areas safer for everyone which will hopefully encourage more people to take up the two-wheelers. I can't wait for the Radbahn to be open!
