I've been learning alot about the aviation industry lately. While not focussing on crashes or anything morbid, there have been some interesting stories in the media of late. Most surprising and inspiring for me was that you can actually pilot a plane even if you have a prosthetic arm. How cool is that? Only not so cool when it falls off during landing and becomes an air traffic incident.
Then there was this article that emerged just recently about an incident in Wuhan. It is roughly titled "Plane couldn't land because air traffic controllers were asleep", so you can easily imagine what the story consisted of. For 12 minutes an approaching Boeing 737 was not able to contact the Wuhan Airport's control tower for landing instructions because some people were having sleepy time. It's quite amazing to think that both controllers on duty would doze off at the same time; it must have been a really heavy lunch.
