One of the first things we do when we move to a new city is to check out all of our supermarket options. It may not sound like a lot of fun to many people but for us, after 8 years in China, it's like entering Disneyland for the first time.

We initially research the logistics; can we walk there? Do we need a taxi? Tuktuk? Will the fish spoil by the time we get it home? You know, the usual worries. We then walk through the store aisle by aisle making note of what is available and how clean and tidy the store is. I think we could actually apply for mystery shopper jobs at these supermarkets :-)

Overall, we fell in love with the fresh produce selection- the one that isn't wilting, bruised or covered with hovering insects. Also Christoph can now have fresh milk that we can trust is safe (no food scandals so far) and we can buy local chicken that tastes like chicken and for me... OMG... fresh fish that doesn't have a metallic aftertaste! Wow! I'm in food heaven, again!

But you know, it's not all about the food... well not always. It's also interesting to check out what items may be new to us. A prime example is the below product which made us wonder; where would you put this on your body??

"Pass me the prickly heat darling."
